Five & Dime Eatery

What is today's date?

1st March, which is keting the pisces girl's birthday! 

After listing out a long long list of cafes, we finally decided to give five&dime a shot. 

It's not difficult to go there, as we took cab from somerset mrt hehe . It's kind of 'isolated' and far from mrt, so you can take bus 54, 32, 139 and 195 .

It is crowded and packed as we have to be served at barside first until there is table available for us. There are 2 storeys but i didnt get a chance to go up and take a photo.

Sitting at the barside is not a bad thing though ,as we get to watch the baristas making beverages as well as my iced chocolate.

Here's the brunch menu, we wanted lunch menu but
today

they only serve brunch :( 

The three of us (Me, Kt and her male friend, Kohei lol ) ordered Fish&Chips, Egg Mayo & Bacon Baguette and Buttermilk Pancake. For the drinks, Iced cafe mocha, Iced Chocolate and Piccolo Latte

Hand-cut fries

The fish & chip is the best kt ever had. It is crispy at first bite, but inside the fish is tender and fresh. The hand-cut fries is oily, but it is darn good and the first time we have ever eat fries like this. A must try

However, the buttermilk pancake is disppointing. They are served with fresh fruits and my choice of chicken sausage. The chicken sausages are good. But the pancakes are not fluffy :( Though, the combination of caramelised banana, sweet grapes and strawberries are refreshing , and it's acceptable when i dip them in maple syrup :)

I didnt try the egg mayo & bacon baguette but kohei says it's okay.

The iced chocolate is okay , and according to kt , the iced mocha is very nice. Kohei finished one cup of piccolo latte, and later on he ordered another cup of it. So i guess it's very nice, as he works in Starbucks and have some knowledges about coffee right?

As compared to the more packed area, it's much brighter and widely spaced here

Later on, we are moved to table beside window hehe. I love this seat so much as the window view is so enjoyable and the lighting is perfect for taking photos

Kohei bought Matt's Chocolate Cake for keting!! I swear the cake is so so nice!! Extremely rich and dense. I call it a brownie-cake. If you are a chocolate-lover, go and try it, you'll never regret.

Basically , after we left Five & Dime, we took bus 54 and alight opposite Liang Court which is about 9 stations away. Then to our surprise, we found Fort Canning Park just beside the busstop. It is where The Fabulous Baker Boy is located but to our disappointment, it is currently renovating until March 16.
